Cannabis: The New Pain Relief Trend Taking the World by Storm

It’s no secret that cannabis has been used for pain relief for centuries. But now, with chronic pain being recognized as a qualifying condition for medical cannabis in most states across the U.S., the trend is spreading globally. People are turning to cannabis not only for its pain-relieving qualities, but also for its potential additional benefits. And while research is still ongoing, many are already seeing promising results and taking matters into their own hands.

Endometriosis: The Painful Condition That’s Driving People to Cannabis

Endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus, is a major source of chronic pain for many. Despite the lack of a known cause or cure, there are various treatments available, including surgery, hormonal devices, and pain medications. But now, a recent survey published in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology has shed light on another potential treatment option: cannabis.

The Survey: Examining the Use of Cannabis for Endometriosis Symptoms

Australian researchers surveyed 192 individuals with a history of cannabis use and endometriosis to gather data on their perspectives and experiences. The survey found that cannabis is being used as a treatment option for endometriosis-related symptoms, despite barriers to access and limited research on its effectiveness. The most commonly prescribed form of cannabis was THC-dominant products, with many individuals using multiple products for relief.

While more research is needed, it’s clear that cannabis is becoming a popular choice for managing endometriosis symptoms. As the trend continues to grow, it may have a significant impact on future research and policies surrounding cannabis use for pain relief.
