The positive news: You will gain an extra hour of restful sleep. The downside: The evenings will be darker earlier for the next few months in the United States. Daylight saving time will come to an end at 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, November 3rd, so remember to set your clock back an hour before going to bed. Standard time will be in effect until March 9th, when we will once again “spring forward” and return to daylight saving time. However, this change in the spring can be more challenging for your body. The shift to darker mornings and lighter evenings can disrupt your internal body clock, making it difficult to fall asleep at the right time for several weeks or even longer. In fact, studies have shown an increase in heart attacks and strokes immediately following the March time change.
