New Executive Director Named for Denver Civil Service Commission After Previous Director’s Dismissal

The Denver Civil Service Commission, responsible for screening applicants for Denver police and fire departments, has announced the appointment of a new executive director. Gracie Perez, who previously served as the director of state and regional operations for Texas Health and Human Services, will assume the role on Aug. 26. The announcement was made in an internal email sent to commission staff and stakeholders earlier this month and shared with The Denver Post on Thursday. In her previous position, Perez managed a team of 6,000 employees and oversaw systems that processed eligibility for various programs, including Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
