The Jefferson County Planning Commission unanimously voted against the approval of a proposed mountain bike park in Conifer, which does not bode well for the first-of-its-kind attraction in Colorado. The county commissioners, who have the final say on the fate of the 250-acre Shadow Mountain Bike Park and its special use permit, are scheduled to review the proposal on October 1st. The planning commission’s 7-0 vote against the bike park on Monday evening is a strong indication of their disapproval. The park would include a dedicated chairlift for uphill transportation and 16 miles of trails descending an 830-foot vertical drop for an exhilarating ride.
