According to Sheriff Shannon Dicus, the only unusual aspect of the recent killings of six individuals in San Bernardino County was the high number of victims. Dicus stated on Monday, Jan. 29 that the arrests of five suspects, who allegedly shot and burned the victims, were shocking due to the severity of the crime. However, Dicus also noted that there have been numerous instances of bodies being dumped in the county in connection with illegal marijuana cultivation, a problem that is not receiving enough attention. The suspects were apprehended during a search of locations in Apple Valley, Adelanto, and a section of Piñon Hills in Los Angeles County. They were found near a site believed to be intended for a marijuana grow operation.
