According to a recent study published in the Cannabis and Cannabinoids Research journal, there has been an increase in cannabis use among older Americans since the start of the pandemic. The University of Michigan’s Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation found that approximately 1 in 8 Americans over the age of 50 currently use cannabis. Lead researcher and addiction psychologist Anne Fernandez stated that this rise in use may be due to the combination of pandemic-related stress and the legalization of cannabis in many states.
