In 2023, Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg declared it the “year of efficiency” and, following in the footsteps of other major tech companies, Meta reduced its workforce and halted expansion plans. However, with the introduction of AI, Zuckerberg announced that the company would invest over $30 billion in new technology infrastructure in 2024. This amount was later increased to $35 billion in April and then to at least $37 billion on Wednesday. Zuckerberg also revealed that Meta plans to spend even more in the following year.
