G Herbo: The High Times Interview
Some stories don’t need dressing. They just land. And that’s exactly what happened when G Herbo sat down for a sit-down interview with Shirley Ju for High Times, presented by Slapwoods. The Chicago rapper exudes a calm and confident energy as he talks about his journey in the music industry and his love for smoking weed.
The Snoop Session
When asked about his most memorable smoking session, Herbo doesn’t hesitate to share a story involving the legendary Snoop Dogg. “Probably with Snoop,” he says with a grin. “I was like 18. I left a bunch of Swishers on the table, came back and Snoop was already rolling my [expletive] up. I was like, ‘Yeah.’ He let me hit the blunt. It was my blunt.”
Herbo’s Chicago pride shines through as he reflects on the highlight of the shoot for his latest music video. “Nobody really did that. No artist went back to Chicago and in 24s riding around in drop-tops and [stuff] like that. So I knew it was going to get some attention.”
The Smoking Routine
Herbo reveals that he used to smoke a lot back in the day, sometimes up to a zip (an ounce) a day. “By myself I know I smoke at least a seven to a fourteen a day for sure, ’cause I wake up and roll like four blunts and my blunts were big.” His routine was simple: “I get up, brush my teeth, smoke weed, then eat.”
But when his stash runs low, it’s time to restock. “Any time you go lower than a seven, you got to go get more,” he says. And when it comes to strains, Herbo prefers the modern ones like Runtz and Gumbo.
Smoking Etiquette
As a seasoned smoker, Herbo has some pet peeves when it comes to smoking sessions. “Making a blunt wet,” he says, shaking his head. “That’s my second most for sure. With the lip gloss I don’t even want it no more. He can have it at that point.”
Favorite Smoking Songs and Movies
When it comes to music, Herbo’s favorite smoking song is “Good Times” by Styles P. And when it comes to movies, he can’t choose between Friday, How High, and The Wash. “I still watch either if I’m high and laugh all day,” he says.
Growth and Reflection
As he looks back on his journey, Herbo reflects on his growth as an artist and a person. Holding up an old magazine cover, he says, “I’ll be 30 in six days. I don’t even remember what I got locked up for, but I look very frustrated… I was wild for sure back then, man. And I’m grateful for how far I’ve come.”
With his work ethic and support from fans, Herbo’s energy and success continue to rise. And as he lights up another blunt, it’s clear that he’s still the same guy who remembers where he came from and appreciates the journey.
