After more than two decades of directly placing families without homes into temporary housing, a nonprofit in Westminster has shifted its focus to preventing homelessness from occurring in the first place. Originally known as the Adams County Interfaith Hospitality Network when it opened in 1998, Growing Home was founded by Kathleen Drozda who noted in a 2018 interview that there were limited resources for homeless families in the suburban area. According to Drozda, the majority of individuals seeking housing in the region were not chronically homeless, but rather experienced a setback that led to falling behind on rent. The Denver Post Season To Share is an annual holiday fundraising campaign for The Denver Post and The Denver Post Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Grants are given to local nonprofit agencies that offer life-changing programs to assist low-income children, families, and individuals in moving out of poverty and towards stability and self-sufficiency.
