A Fruity and Spicy Twist on Permanent Marker: Pleasant Effects Takes the East Coast by Storm
Rhode Island-based grower Pleasant Effects is making waves across the East Coast with their unique rendition of Permanent Marker. Not only is their strain gaining popularity, but their eye-catching and artistic packaging is also turning heads. Inspired by a Shel Silverstein classic, their packaging is a nostalgic nod to the past.
Sam, one of the co-founders of Pleasant Effects, gained his expertise in the non-cannabis world while working at a local hydroponics company. As a head grower, he designed large-scale hydroponic produce farms. But his true passion has always been growing cannabis. “I’ve always been passionate about it,” Sam says. “Last year, we even competed in the East Coast Zalympix in New York City, which was definitely a cool moment for us.”
Recently, Pleasant Effects teamed up with The Book Club, a company that releases curated cannabis drops inspired by books. The drops are designed by glass artist and illustrator Trevor Johns, also known as Trevy Metal. Their collaboration was based on Silverstein’s whimsical collection of poems, with a playful twist on his classic “Where the Sidewalk Ends.” The result? “Where the Sherbwalk Ends,” a collaboration with Pleasant Effects featuring their Sherbanger #22 strain and a fictional author, Sherb Silverstein.
“We’re showcasing our love for literature,” says Trevy Metal. “Each book we choose has a nostalgic factor to it. This one, in particular, was a huge inspiration for me growing up.” It’s no surprise that the collaboration pays homage to Silverstein, who wrote about drugs and other substances in his poems and songs. References to marijuana can be found in his famous poem “The Smoke-Off” and the song “I Got Stoned and I Missed It.”
